In 1820, five years before Nelson’s Column was built to celebrate the battle of Trafalgar in 1805, a small workshop opened in Haymarket, London. Albert Thurston made and sold braces from his emporium for 31 years before he was honourably mentioned at a great exhibition for excellence in quality. Over the next two centuries kings, princes, presidents and successful businessmen wore his braces across the world.
