"It's a wonderful learning experience that is jam packed with meetings, lunches, dinners and lots of parties."
What do you love about this festival?
I love that it gathers the greatest menswear designers, bloggers, and photographers from around the world. I find it very interesting to meet people from all over the world and see what works in their cities and cultures and how that differs to our own styles in Australia. It's a wonderful learning experience that is jam packed with meetings, lunches, dinners and lots of parties. Also lots of ice-cream, you can't forget the ice-cream.
Did you notice any emerging trends?
Hats are making a big come back which I love. Hats are such a great way to refine an already fantastic ensemble. Trousers are getting longer again and not quite as short and tight as they were for a small period of time. I believe there will always be trends at Pitti, but the fun part part is to look away from the trends and to spot the classic and stylish guys!
Who inspired you?
There are some big name designers, influencers and tailors that have inspired me, but it's the fellow men and women, who like me, have a big passion for this industry and want to share that with others. I also find the locals quite inspiring. It's great to see this classic menswear style carried out to the streets of Florence and worn in daily life in the most practical way.
And what about Florence on the whole?
What a beautiful city! Both in winter and summer it is so easy to get around on foot, which is perfect for the tourist and locals. The buildings are magnificent and the city is filled so much rich history. The people are very friendly and the food, well you're going to get a great meal no matter where you go.
