Tips and tricks to add versatility to your wardrobe (without spending big)

Feeling a little uninspired by the winter? Nothing but grey and not even a hint of blue in both the skies and your wardrobe? Bored by a beige existence? We can get you out of your funk and you don’t have to rob a bank to do it. There’s a host of little things you can do to lift your office wardrobe and put a spring in your step. Here’s how to give your wardrobe a refresh with very little effort and cash to boot!

Men who’ve been in the corporate game for a certain amount of time have amassed enough ties to fill a tie shop, but often they stick to their top three. It’s time to play “take or toss” and send those that collect dust to the charity shop and add a fresh bunch to the arsenal. What more could you hope for than a spectrum of colour when you pull out your tie collection? It’s bound to put you in a good mood. If you’re a habitual wearer of stripes maybe try something else: A patterned or printed tie can be a fun and whimsical way to add some cheer. Got a formal event coming up? Perhaps a spotted bow tie would suit. And polkadots go with almost everything.

Looking for something a bit extra? Pocket squares are a fun and easy way to jazz up your overall look with some colour. You can choose how bold you dare to be—from the simplest to the most outrageous—there’s a pocket square for everyone. Choose a plain colour if you work somewhere more conservative, or wow them with a paisley print or a subtle check. Definitely a way to start a conversation.

Got a navy jacket lying about that’s perhaps a little underused? Pair it with a pair of chino trousers for a dressed-up smart casual look that will be appropriate for a variety of occasions. Engagement parties, golf, (indoor) barbecues—everything!  Or for a touch of elegance consider a made-to-measure overcoat. Better than all the off-the-rack numbers you’ll ever find, it’ll be perfectly fitted for your frame and will even take your suit beneath it into account. For additional versatility wear it at the weekend with jeans and a smart tee. Finish it with a scarf and you’re ready for the outdoors and will feel like you can take on the world again.
