Colour Forecast 2026: How to Wear Soft, Confident Shades in Tailoring

With the silly season fast approaching, it’s the time of year when we start to think about what lies ahead. And at Oscar Hunt specifically, that means thinking about what our wardrobes are going to look like in 2026.

Rather than starting with specific garments though, we’ve started a little more broadly, thinking about the colours that we’re going to be incorporating come the new year. From classics to more vibrant shades, there’s one particular variety that’s on our minds at the moment and that’s softer hues.

Applicable to everything from wedding suits in Australia to more casual suiting, pale blues, sages and browns are going to be colours to watch out for. Here, we offer you the Oscar Hunt guide of how to wear them.

Weddings

Given we’re in peak wedding season it only makes sense to start here. One of the major colour trends that we’re predicting for grooms suits in 2026 is pale statement colours. From contrasting dinner jackets in icy blue & pale pink silk to full suits for more cocktail skewing events.

Now, before you worry, we’re the first to admit that this is bold look. The trick with pulling off pastel wedding suits is keeping styling to a minimum and not overcomplicating it. For example, if you’re making a statement with a pale pink dinner jacket, opt for a classic white dinner shirt and black tie with onyx shirt studs to balance out the look.

Casual Tailoring

Coloured suits in Australia aren’t just for ‘the big day’ - they can also be just as appropriate for everyday. Our picks of the season are softer greens, blues and tans that are just at home in a relaxed style of suit as they are worn as a separate blazer and trousers.

Speaking of separates, pastel sports coats are another item on our wish list that are truly versatile in terms of how they can be styled. We’d pair ours with a pair of dark denim and a white shirt for a simple yet polished ensemble.

Formal Suiting

When it comes to more traditional, formal suiting, we’re the first to admit that pulling off pastel shades can be a challenge. And while that might be true for the suit itself, accessories are a completely different ball game.

In 2026, consider how you can bring the colours of the season into your outfit through smaller elements like neck ties, pocket squares or even socks. This can be an easy way to freshen up an existing suit and staying on trend.
