First Time Buying a Custom Suit in Melbourne? Here’s What to Expect
There’s no question about it: purchasing a tailored suit in Melbourne for the first time can be daunting. From figuring out sizing, to knowing what style you’re after, to getting a sense of cost - it’s a lot. And that’s where we come in.
Here at Oscar Hunt, we pride ourselves on taking the stress out of the process when it comes to finding the perfect custom suit in Melbourne. And it starts right here! In this article, we’ll walk you through our process so you can be at ease well ahead of your first appointment.

The consultation
One of the reasons that we consider ourselves the best place to get a tailored suit in Melbourne is that we guarantee 1:1 service for all of our clients, ensuring that their time with us is a truly custom suit experience.
This starts with your first consultation where one of our expert fitters will sit down with you to understand what you’re looking for and what styles you are drawn to. From here, they will curate a selection of different fabrics and finishing touches to choose from.
At the end of your consultation, you’ll have dozens of your measurements taken which will help to ensure that your final suit is the perfect fit.

The first fitting
Many first-time clients are concerned about how long a tailored suit takes. They needn’t be. Believe it or not, the next appointment after the consultation where you’ll try on the first iteration of your suit is usually only 4-6 weeks later.
At this stage, your fitter will create a list of any further alterations that may be required to the garment; from adjusting the length of the trousers to tweaking the fit of the jacket. While often these are small changes, they make all the difference when it comes to the finished product and ensures that an Oscar Hunt suit stands above the rest.

The final fitting
A week or so later, you’ll be invited back to the showroom to try on your suit one final time. At this point in the process, our team will have inspected the garment with a fine toothed comb and it should both look and feel perfect.
What follows? Taking it out for a spin on the town.
