Melbourne's Best Tailor: Unveiling the Secrets to a Flawless Wedding Suit

Choosing a wedding suit is one of the most exciting - and potentially overwhelming - decisions a groom or bride-to-be can make. There’s the sheer range of options! The pressure to get the dress code just right! And don’t even get us started on figuring out how to predict the weather on the day.

No - the decisions are endless - but, thankfully, that’s where we can help. As the home of suits in Melbourne, the Oscar Hunt team has had experience helping countless individuals figure out the perfect ensemble for their big day.

Here, we unveil our top tips on how to make the decision both pain-free and perfect.

Start with the basics

When you’re investing in a tailor made suit, one of the perks is that it’s a collaborative process that you’ll embark upon with a dedicated fitter. This means that for your first appointment, all you need to bring along is some loose details. Principal amongst them? Dress code. This will help to give your tailor a clear direction and assist in curating a more manageable list of options. For example, if you know the wedding is black-tie, they’ll create a selection of tuxedo options.

Don’t underestimate the weather

Next, while you might not be able to pinpoint the forecast for your wedding, having an idea of the season will assist your fitter in selecting fabrics that’ll keep you comfortable. For example, if you’re having Winter nuptials, they might suggest a heavier wool or flannel fabric in a double breasted suit style to ensure you stay cosy. On the flipside, if you’re getting married in the height of Summer, they’re likely to put forward some more breathable options that will keep you cool (even when you’re tearing it up on the dancefloor).

Feel good!

One of the reasons we (not so humbly) lay claim to making the best wedding suits in Melbourne is that we’re firmly dedicated to ensuring our clients not only look great but that they also feel great. We do this by following a rigorous process where no thread is left unchecked.

Following your initial consultation, you’ll be invited back to the showroom a few weeks later to try on the suit for the first time. It’s at this stage that we’ll identify any further adjustments that need to be carried out by our in-house tailors and where we’ll also ask you how the suit feels.

From here, we’ll generally have one further appointment to ensure that everything is perfect and that you feel a million bucks on the big day.

If you’re preparing for your very own wedding and want to find out more about pricing, style or simply need some advice, swing by your local showroom or give us a bell.
